Stephen Fry In America is a travel documentary that recently aired every Sunday night on BBC1. It followed Stephen Fry as he visited every state in the USA and was quite simply a brilliant series. Anyway the good news is that you can now buy the DVD of this excellent series.

The Stephen Fry In America DVD features all the episodes shown on BBC1 as well as additional footage that they didn’t have time to broadcast. There’s not much else in the way of extras but to be honest this series was good enough by itself.

You really do get a good feel of America watching this series and Stephen Fry is an excellent travelling companion with his unquestionable wit, intelligence and friendliness. In fact as a huge fan of travel documentaries, I would even say he could well be a natural successor to the king of travel documentaries, Michael Palin.

The only negative about the series is that it does seem a bit rushed in places with some states getting no more than a few minutes coverage, but overall it is still one of the best travel series I’ve seen for quite a few years.
