The eagerly anticipated movie The Dark Knight is now available to own on DVD. This box office smash hit starred Heath Ledger in his last ever appearance before his tragic death, as well as Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart.

The Dark Knight DVD features this excellent film as well as a few additional extras such as 6 impressive IMAX sequences, photos and art galleries, and a behind-the-scenes look at how the batsuit and batpod were actually created. Admittedly the extras could have been better, but they’re better than nothing I guess.

The film itself was surprisingly very good. I’m not normally a big fan of superhero movies but this one seemed a lot more real than most other films, and it was certainly helped by a brilliant performance from Heath Ledger, who played the menacing Joker. Christian Bale, who played Batman, wasn’t bad either.

At around two and a half hours long, it was a little too long for my liking, but overall I still thought The Dark Knight was a very good film overall. It’s definitely worth watching, even if you are not a big fan of the previous Batman movies.
