Wallander DVD
Wallander is a detective drama that was recently broadcast on BBC1. It has been described as the Swedish equivalent of Inspector Morse, although I personally feel that although there are similarities, I think Wallander has a very unique atmosphere all of it’s own.
The series was adapted from the Wallander books by Henning Mankell, and stars Kenneth Branagh as a Swedish police inspector who is charged with solving mysterious murders in an increasingly violent town in southern Sweden.
The series was beautifully filmed and the storylines really were excellent. It’s debatable whether or not it will become as popular as the likes of Inspector Morse, Lewis and A Touch Of Frost, but if these early episodes are anything to go by, then it has every chance.
Anyway if you want to watch all three 90-minute episodes again, you will shortly be able to do so thanks to this Wallander DVD, which is scheduled to be released in the next few days. It features the three separate stories recently shown on BBC1 and also includes a host of extras such as a 55-minute documentary entitled ‘The Wallander Look’, as well as interviews with Branagh and Mankell and interesting features on the whole character of Wallander.
The Wallander DVD is due to be released on 26 December, but you can pre-order it now by clicking on the following link:
