Doctor Who - The Next Doctor - 2008 Christmas Special DVD

The 2008 Christmas Special of Doctor Who entitled ‘The Next Doctor’ was full of anticipation and intrigue because many people thought the identity of the new doctor would be revealed. Because this episode starred David Morrissey, many people thought he was the hot favourite to take over from David Tennant, but this was not to be the case.

This was still a very good hour-long episode, however. It was set in Victorian London and starred David Morrissey as a Doctor who was working in parallel with the real Doctor Who forming a quite formidable partnership, as well as Dervla Kirwan who was excellent as the sinister baddie. There was also another appearance from the evil Cybermen, who are many people’s favourite Doctor Who villains.

Anyway you can now watch this episode on DVD because the Doctor Who - The Next Doctor - 2008 Christmas Special DVD has just been released today. It features this complete episode as well as some very good extra features including Doctor Who At The Proms, which is the Royal Albert Hall concert where some of the most memorable music from the series is given the classical music treatment, which although doesn’t sound that exciting, is actually quite impressive.
