Not Going Out is a sitcom that is now in it’s third series and yet despite being broadcast regularly on Friday nights on BBC1 for a few years now, it’s still relatively unknown. However that doesn’t mean that it’s rubbish. Far from it in fact. Not Going Out is actually a very funny show.

I started watching it right from the start when I heard about this new sitcom that was written by Lee Mack and Tim Vine (who also play two of the lead characters). I’m a fan of both of these stand-up comics, particularly Tim Vine, and this show is basically an extension of the latter’s brilliant one-liners.

Not Going Out is a traditional sitcom set largely in a classy London apartment, but the real humour comes from the brilliant word play and hilarious one-liners between the main characters. The gags come thick and fast, very much like Friends, and are interwoven brilliantly into the main storyline for each episode. It really is a quality sitcom.

Anyway the good news is that the Not Going Out - Series 2 DVD has just been released so you can now own the first two series of this very much underrated sitcom. This second DVD features all the episodes from the second series (including the Christmas special) as well as audio commentary on three of the episodes and behind the scenes footage.
